Owners, organizations, and designers all over the world are asking themselves what it really means to "be green." Is it simply about scoring points on a checklist, sorting the trash, and advertising the results in recycled-paper brochures? Or is it about achieving real efficiency; making better, healthier living, working, and learning environments; reducing negative impacts on our neighbors; and building long-term value?

Obviously, we think it's the latter. We sort our trash too, our new office is targeting LEED® Gold certification, and we have LEED Accredited Professionals on staff. We know the conventional approach to sustainable design and can carry it through with confidence.

But real sustainable design goes far beyond the feel-good measure of hanging up a plaque. At Studio Meng Strazzara, our focus in sustainable design is creating the most value for our clients with the most elegant and efficient means possible. That means comfortable, functional, beautiful built environments that don't waste costly resources or require expensive maintenance, and elegantly serve the needs of their owners, occupants, and surrounding communities.
