Studio Meng Strazzara Receives City of Redmond’s 2012 Outstanding Design Award

The City of Redmond recently awarded Studio Meng Strazzara in conjunction with Dykeman Architects and Talasea Consultants the “2012 Excellence in Design Award” for the design of the PCC and Avondale Plaza.


The City recognized “the successful marriage of two projects.”  - The design of the commercial building (by Studio Meng Strazzara), and the PCC (by Dykeman Architects).The City also noted the project’s site design, use of colors and mix of materials. The PCC is the first LEED Gold Certified grocery building in the United States.


The Design Review Board, which works with Redmond’s Planning and Community Development Department, created the Excellence in Design Awards Program in 1999 to recognize and honor those projects which best represent the design values of the community. For the 2012 award program, the Design Review Board took into consideration all programs constructed within the City in the years 2004 through 2011, and selected 25 recipients for the City’s Excellence in Design Awards.


The PCC and Avondale Plaza are located at 11435 Avondale Road in Redmond, Washington. The Owner/Developers are Langly Properties and PCC Natural Markets.
